Scope of Practice
"The practice of Massage Therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain (Massage Therapy Act, 1991)."
A massage therapy treatment may be comprised traditional Swedish and modern Massage Therapy techniques.
Massage Therapy can be described as "relaxation" or "therapeutic":
1) Relaxation Massage
Focuses on relaxation rather than a specific condition or injury. Used for stress reduction and management.
2) Therapeutic Massage
Treats specific conditions or injuries affecting soft tissues and joints. Aids in the recovery process.
